Anticipation ran high on day one of Ultra as the Avicii performance crept closer; 2013′s performance set forth a drastic change-of-face for what dance music would become and 2014′s was canceled at the last minute due to health concerns. Tim Bergling’s fans were buzzing at an all time high – until it was announced that Avicii’s set would not be streamed. For those that were lucky enough to be in attendance, Avicii played out a number of new tunes following a break in his set that all but confirm his sophomore album will be named Stories. Among the incredible track debuts were a number of songs that Avicii diehards have awaited for quite some time including the long teased “City Lights” and the Chris Martin-assisted “Heaven.”
If you weren’t at Miami’s Bayfront Park in late March, you’ve been out of luck — until now. Along with a high definition video streams of the track debuts, Avicii has released the full performance on his website for fans to enjoy. Start to end, Avicii’s performance was enjoyable, but the real treat holds steady for the last twenty some odd minutes – if history serves as a clue, you’ll be hearing plenty of these tracks for years to come.
